How to Play Boggle 4x4
Boggle is a word hunting game played on a grid of letters. This board is 4x4, so sixteen letters, and your job is to find as many words in it as you can.
A word is made by moving from letter to letter through squares that touch, including diagonally. You cannot use the same square twice in one word.
Play Boggle 4×4How to play
- Drag across letters that touch to spell a word. The trail shows the path you have taken.
- Letters can connect in any of the eight directions, so diagonals are fair game.
- No square can be used twice in a single word.
- Words are three letters or longer. Release to submit.
- Found words appear in the panel beside the board, and the bar fills as you work through the ones the board holds.
Scoring
Longer words are worth far more than short ones, so a seven letter find beats a handful of threes. The panel keeps your words in the order you found them, and you can sort them by length to see where the points came from.
Rotating the board with the arrows under it does not change the puzzle, it just gives you a fresh view, which is a surprisingly good way to break out of seeing the same few words.
Finding more words
Work from common endings. Hunt for ING, ERS, EST and ED in the grid and then look backwards from them for the stems that fit.
Plurals are free points. Once you have a word, check whether an S sits next to its last letter.
Scan prefixes too. RE, UN and DE at the start of a chain often turn a short word you have already found into a long one.
