Boggle 3x3 Game

Boggle 3x3

Nine letters, no clock, and every word you can trace through them. The small board makes it a quick one, and the words are there if you look.

A new board every day, the same one for everyone, and the panel beside the grid keeps every word you find.

How to play Boggle 3x3

Drag from one letter to the next to spell a word. Letters have to touch, and the diagonals count, which on a board this small is most of your options.

Words are three letters or longer and no letter can be used twice in the same word.

Let go to submit. A word that counts flashes green with its score, a repeat flashes orange, and anything that is not a word flashes red.

The bar above the word list shows how many of the board's words you have, and the rotate buttons spin the grid so you can read the same letters a different way.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are in a board?

It varies, but a nine letter board usually hides between twenty and fifty. The progress bar fills as you find the ones that count.

What counts as a word?

Anything in the dictionary we check against, which is the standard word list used for word games. Names and abbreviations are out.

Why rotate the board?

The letters do not change, but reading them from a new angle shakes words loose. It is the cheapest trick in the game.

Can I play an older board?

Yes. The calendar button opens the previous boards, and every board has a number you can share with a friend.

About Boggle 3x3

Boggle 3x3 is the pocket version of the classic letter grid. Nine letters is small enough to see the whole board at once, which turns it into a puzzle about thoroughness rather than speed.

The letters come from weighted dice rather than at random, so you get a sensible mix of vowels and consonants and a board that can actually be played.

If you want more room, the 4x4 and 5x5 boards work the same way, and Word Hunt adds a ninety second clock to the 4x4 grid.
