Boggle 5×5 Game

Boggle 5x5

Twenty five letters, which is a lot of board. Words have to be four letters or longer here, and there are many more of them than you expect.

A new board daily, no clock, and a word list that keeps everything you find.

How to play Boggle 5x5

Drag across touching letters, diagonals included, to spell a word. No letter can be reused inside the same word.

The minimum length is four letters on this board, which keeps the word list from filling up with three letter noise.

Let go to submit. Green counted, orange is a repeat, red is not a word.

The grid is large enough that systematic beats clever. Work through it corner by corner rather than hunting at random.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the minimum four letters?

A board this size holds hundreds of three letter words, and typing them all out is tedious rather than fun. Four keeps the hunt interesting.

How long should a board take?

Longer than you think. There is no clock, so most people come back to a big board a few times through the day.

Is the board the same for everyone?

Yes, it comes from the date. The previous games button lets you play any earlier day as well.

What are bonus words?

Words that are valid but not on the puzzle's required list. They still score, they just do not count against the total you are chasing.

About Boggle 5x5

The five by five board is sometimes called Big Boggle, and it changes the game rather than just scaling it. There is room for long words to wander, so the ceiling on a good board is very high.

Endings pay even better here than on the small boards. A board with an S in a useful place can add fifty words on its own.

If this is too much board, the 4x4 and 3x3 versions work exactly the same way with a three letter minimum.
