Free brain games for seniors, with no signup and big clear boards
Most games aimed at older players are the same three puzzles wrapped in adverts and a subscription prompt. These are not that. They open in a browser, they are free, and none of them put you on a clock.
They also scale: the boards resize to the screen, so a tablet gets a bigger board rather than a squashed one.
Play SolitaireGentle to start with
- Solitaire: the Klondike you already know, with draw one if you want the kinder version.
- Sudoku 4x4: a four by four grid that takes a couple of minutes and teaches the idea.
- Mahjong Solitaire: matching pairs of tiles, with the real tile faces at a readable size.
- Flood It: one choice per turn and a board that fills with colour.
A bit more to chew on
- Sudoku, on easy or medium, with a new one every day.
- Nonograms, which turn numbers into a picture.
- Minesweeper, as a deduction puzzle rather than a race.
- Mancala, which is two player but plays perfectly well against the computer.
Why these ones
- No timer on any of them, so a puzzle waits as long as you need.
- No account, no email, and nothing to install.
- Light and dark modes, for reading comfort.
- Progress is saved, so a puzzle you started this morning is still there tonight.
If you are setting this up for somebody else, bookmark the game itself rather than the homepage. It opens straight onto the board.
